An invitation to think about the challenges of notarial practice
In a society in constant change and, particularly, in the post-pandemic period, it is important to follow the new reality of the sector and examine the impact of new technologies on the public services provided by Portuguese notaries.
Thus, the Portuguese Chamber of Notaries is promoting the IV International Congress which will have as its core theme "Citizens' Rights in a Globalized and Digital World", to be held on the 29th and 30th of September 2023, in the city of Aveiro, as invitation for joint reflection on the present and future challenges of the notarial practice.
As such, the Congress is intended to be a historical milestone in the development of a notarial document circulation system, in digital format, which makes citizens' and companies' lives easier.
The meeting also represents an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the countries of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and Ibero-American countries, as well as to improve Portuguese-EU relations by harmonising procedures in cross-border legal affairs.
On this occasion, we will have the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge with national and international speakers, covering areas of great interest for the notarial practice, such as the circulation of digital documents, the apostille, the role of the notary as a guarantee of legal security in face-to-face and remote e-Business, the protection of the most vulnerable in a digital and globalised world and the challenges of artificial intelligence in the legal system, among others.
